Supporting Blues Musician Nat Myers in His Fight Against Sarcoma

In 2023, I had the privilege of photographing my friend Chuck Treece while he was on tour with G. Love and Special Sauce. Before the show, Chuck introduced me to a young blues musician from the South who instantly captivated me with his talent and charm: Nat Myers.

From the moment Nat spoke, I was hooked—not just by his incredible voice but by the calm, welcoming energy he exuded. After chatting for a bit, I asked if I could snap a few photos. Without hesitation, he hugged me and said, “Of course, Ms. Kristin,” his southern charm working its magic. I couldn’t help but be drawn to his warmth and authenticity.

At that moment, I knew Nat was special—someone whose music and energy could make change. We had planned to collaborate again this year, but unfortunately, life had other plans, and we lost touch.

Recently, I received the heartbreaking news that Nat is facing an incredibly tough battle. He’s been diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Right now, he’s in the fight of his life, and I know many of you, like me, can’t imagine a world without his soulful blues filling the air.

The Struggles of Independent Musicians

As many of you may know, artists like Nat don’t always receive the support they need from their labels, especially when it comes to healthcare. Musicians often face financial struggles while trying to focus on their craft, and healthcare expenses can quickly become overwhelming. If you caught @chappellroan’s speech at the Grammys this year, she eloquently addressed this reality and the lack of support for artists.

For Nat to continue his fight and get back to doing what he loves—sharing his music and spreading joy—he needs our help.
